HIRSCH & EPSolutely bring polystyrene into the cycle

We are proud to be part of the pioneering EPSolutely project — a true game changer for the circular economy of expanded polystyrene (EPS, better known as Porozell or Styrofoam).

As a project partner, we have spent the past three years working together with leading companies, research institutions, and waste management providers on a question that matters deeply to us as a producer and technology provider:
Can we turn EPS into a truly valuable material?
Today, at the end of the pilot phase, we can confidently say: Yes, it works!

Closing the loop
EPSolutely has demonstrated that packaging waste, construction site cut-offs, and even contaminated demolition material can be successfully reintroduced into the material cycle—through mechanical and chemical processes, supported by digital tools such as QR codes, apps, and an efficient take-back system.
At HIRSCH, one thing is clear: Sustainability and innovation go hand in hand. That’s why we are passionately committed to playing an active role in the circular economy—not only as a manufacturer of insulation and packaging materials but also as a driving force for sustainable change.

Shaping the future together
What do we take away from this project? It only works together.
Only through collaboration along the entire value chain—across company and national borders—can we unlock the full potential of EPS. EPSolutely is not an ordinary recycling project. It is a European lighthouse initiative that shows how circular economy works in practice.

We thank all our partners who have joined us on this journey and look forward to continuing to develop solutions that make EPS a truly sustainable material for the future.
